It seems like months ago…but it was just 11 days ago that Sunshine was coming home.
We were scheduled to meet them at the Lincoln airport at 6:30 pm. We had the airport party planned. Unfortunately, Mr. P and the girls missed their connecting flight in Denver (couldn’t get through customs quick enough) and our plans were thwarted. Fortunately, they were able to still make it out of Denver that night on a later flight! But coming in at 11pm was less than ideal. Some of our welcome home crew came to the airport to find an empty party. I had to pull 3 exhausted little people out of bed to drive to the airport to meet their new sister. But all in all…they made it HOME and that is all that really matters. And even at midnight…we were still surrounded by quite a crowd of love and encouragement. We are so blessed!
These images are a huge gift. A friend took these for us and I will always treasure them. I see so much joy in the faces of all the people who loved Sunshine before they ever saw her in person. And I see so much sadness, exhaustion, panic in the face of a little girl whose world changed overnight. Shell shocked and jet lagged…there were no smiles that night. But by God’s grace she woke up happy the next morning ready to take on the world!
Enjoy the pictures! There were so many to choose from…so I’ll let you scroll through and re-live the night with me!
I hope someday Sunshine will look at these MANY photos and see a family of people who have loved her from the beginning. I hope she’ll see HER people. Those that love her unconditionally and those she trusts. It takes a village as they say…and she has an army of people on her side ready to take on life!!!
